A. B. A. Surgical Industries (India) is located at 1684, Street Number 7, in Pawan Nagar, right off the Batala Road. This part of the city is well-known for its small-scale industries, and we are right in the middle of it all. Our unit is where we spend all our hours, working with tools and metal to make surgical instruments. It’s a very precise kind of work, but the environment we work in is actually very down-to-earth. The workshop floor is always busy, and there’s a specific rhythm to the sounds of the grinding and polishing machines that you get used to. We are a small group of people, and most of us live pretty close by, so it feels a bit like a neighborhood gathering every morning when we start up the machines. We don’t have a big corporate office or a receptionist to greet people. If you come by, you’ll probably find us with our sleeves rolled up, working directly on an order. Batala Road is a busy artery for the city, so there’s always a sense of movement right outside our gates. We focus on the things we make because we know they are used in important places, even if our own shop is quite simple and modest to look at. We take our tea breaks together and talk about the local news or how the latest batch of steel is looking. It’s a practical, no-nonsense way of making a living.
