Shivam Clinic

Living and working near the Swaminarayan Temple here in Liliya means we hear the bells and see the crowds every day. Shivam Clinic is just a small part of this town. People come by on their way to the temple or after doing their shopping. It’s a quiet place mostly, except for festival days when Liliya gets really crowded. The clinic is simple. We don't have those big glass windows or shiny signs like you see in the city. Just a door and some benches. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we just sit by the window and wait for it to come back. Most of the people who walk in are our neighbors. We know their names and their families. It’s just how things are in a place like this. Being near the temple makes it easy for folks from out of town to find us too. They just ask for the temple and someone points them our way. We keep some old magazines in the waiting area, though nobody really reads them anymore. They just talk to each other while they wait. It’s a lot of small talk about the weather or the crops. We just try to get through the day and help whoever walks through the door. It’s a local life and we’re alright with that. No big plans, just keeping the doors open.
