Palvi Traders

Palvi Traders is based in Javeri Arcade over at Gandhi Chowk. It is a central spot, so there is always something happening outside our door. We deal in various goods that local shops and families need. It is not a huge operation, just me and a couple of guys helping with the heavy lifting and the stock. The arcade itself is an old building, and our unit is on the ground floor. We have shelves lined with all sorts of items, and it can get a bit cramped when a big delivery arrives. We don't use any flashy signs to get people inside. There is a small board with our name on it near the entrance of the arcade. Most of our work involves checking ledgers and talking to suppliers on the phone. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, which is quite common here. When that happens, we just sit on the stools outside and talk to the shopkeepers next door until the lights come back on. It’s a steady way to spend the day. We don't have a big mission or a grand plan. We just open up in the morning, do our trading, and make sure the accounts are right. It’s a practical business for a practical town. We see the same faces every day and that makes it feel like a community. It is hard work but we are used to it by now. The tea we drink around 4 PM is the best part of the day.
