Dharti Dredging And Infrastructure Ltd operates out of a space near the Hotel White Rose. We are right opposite the Krishna Gate in Bhavnagar, which is a pretty well-known spot for anyone living around here. The office is a bit of a mix of things. We have heavy boots sitting in the corner and stacks of technical manuals on the shelves. It’s not the kind of place where you’d expect fancy carpets. We are more about the actual work on the ground. Dredging is a tough business, and the office reflects that. It’s functional. We have a lot of maps of the local coast and the waterways pinned up on the walls with those little colored tacks. The air conditioner makes a loud humming noise, but we need it because Bhavnagar gets incredibly hot. Most of the guys are out at the sites during the day, so it’s usually just a couple of us handling the logistics and the government paperwork. We drink a lot of coffee to stay sharp. Sometimes people wander in thinking this is part of the hotel, and we have to point them back across the street. It’s a busy life, always something moving or something needing to be cleared out. We just keep our heads down and stay on top of the schedules as best as we can. It’s practical work for practical people, and we like it that way. No frills.
