About Vidharba Dall Mills – Food & Beverages in Amravati
Out here at Farm No. 115, things are a bit quieter than in the middle of Amravati. We’re on the Wardha Road, quite close to Sapasal Village, so we see a lot of tractors and bullock carts passing by. The mill is where we spend most of our hours, processing the dall that comes in from the local fields. It’s a dusty job, and by the end of the shift, everyone has a layer of yellow powder on their clothes. We don't have any big signs or bright lights. Most people in the village just know where we are. The machines are old but they still run okay if you give them enough oil and attention. There’s a big banyan tree near the entrance where we take our lunch breaks when it gets too hot inside. The air smells like earth and dried pulses. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a few hours, and we just sit and talk until it comes back on. It’s not a fast-paced life, but there’s always something to do. We keep the bags stacked high in the corner. My uncle started this mill years ago, and we just kept it going the same way. The road gets muddy when it rains, making it hard for the trucks to get in, but we manage. It's a simple life out here near the village and it keeps us busy enough throughout the seasons.
