Shifa Clinic

Shifa Clinic is situated at Itwara Chowk on the Kuram TQ Main Road in Murtizapur. Being right at the chowk means we are in the middle of everything. On market days, the noise and the crowds are really something else. You can hear the vendors shouting and the motorcycles revving their engines right outside our front door. The clinic itself is a straightforward place. We have a tiled floor that we try to keep clean, but with so many people coming in from the main road, it is a constant job. There is a small counter where we handle the paperwork and a few chairs for people to sit on. The walls are a simple white, though they have some scuff marks from where people lean their umbrellas or bags. Murtizapur can get very hot, so we usually have a jug of water sitting out for anyone who needs a drink. Most of the people who come to see us are locals who have been living in this area for a long time. They stop in while they are doing their daily errands at the chowk. It is a practical setup for the community. We don't use any big words or fancy equipment; we just talk to people and do our work in the middle of all the noise and activity of the town center.
