Sainath Ice Factory

Our factory is located in Karanja, on Murtizapur Road in the Washim district. We are very close to the Main Road Bus Stand, so you can always hear the buses going by. Sainath Ice Factory isn't a retail shop; it’s where we actually make the ice. The building is quite old and the floors are always wet from the melting ice and the machinery. We wear heavy boots to keep our feet dry. It’s a loud place because of the compressors running all the time. We don't have a fancy office. I just have a small desk with a lot of papers on it. We sell ice blocks to local businesses and for events. It’s a lot of heavy lifting. My back usually aches by the end of the day. We don't have a big sign outside, just some paint on the wall. The driveway has some big holes that we’ve filled with gravel, but they always come back after it rains. We start work very early, often while it’s still dark, to get the deliveries ready. We don't do any marketing or sales calls. People just know where we are. It’s a tough, cold job, but it’s what my family has done for years. We just keep the machines running and the ice moving out the door. The neighbor's dog usually hangs around the loading dock for scraps.
