Down here in Budhewara, things move at their own pace. Jawarkar Pharmaceutical is basically just a few of us working in a space that’s getting a bit tight with all the stock we keep. It’s not a shiny corporate place. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy with the paperwork to worry about that. We get a lot of local people coming through. Some have been coming to this same spot for years. We know most of their names and what they usually need before they even ask. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting crates and checking expiry dates by hand. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, and we just sit there and wait it out. It gives us a chance to have some tea. We don’t do big advertisements or anything fancy. People just know we are here in Budhewara. The shelves are packed right up to the ceiling. You have to use a small ladder to reach the top rows, which is a bit of a workout every day. It’s a steady kind of life. We deal with the suppliers, argue a bit about the delivery times, and then get back to serving the customers. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until we close up at night.
