You can find Ideal Hardware And Machinery at Shop No 9 in the Amc Sankul. We are right beside the Arya Samaj Mandir, near the Old Motor Stand. It’s an old part of the city, and the streets are always full of people moving around. The shop is small, but we’ve packed it tight with all sorts of hardware and bits of machinery. If you move too fast, you might knock something over, so we tell people to watch their step. I’ve been running this place for years. It started with just a few shelves of bolts and hammers, but now we have things I can barely lift by myself. The morning starts with sweeping the front and getting the heavy shutters up. It’s dusty work. We get a lot of mechanics from the motor stand coming in with broken parts, asking if we have a match. Usually, we do. I don’t believe in having a computer for everything; I still use a notebook to keep track of what’s going out. It feels more real that way. Sometimes the temple next door has a lot of noise, but it’s a nice background for the day. We don’t have sales or big posters. People just know we are here when their tools break. We also sell a lot of heavy items that take two people to carry out to the trucks.
