Baba Hardasram Dal Mill

Running Baba Hardasram Dal Mill out here on Ajanta Chowk Road is a lot of hard work. We are located right in the Midc area, and you can always tell when you are close because of the heavy sound of the machines and the smell of raw pulses in the air. Being near the Raymond factory means there is always traffic and people moving around, which makes the area feel very industrial and alive. The mill itself is quite a large space filled with sacks and the roar of the grinders. My clothes usually have a thin layer of dust on them by noon, but that is just how it goes in this line of work. We spend most of our hours watching the bags get filled and making sure the trucks can pull in and out of the yard without getting stuck. The sun beats down on the metal roof during the summer, making it pretty hot inside, so we drink a lot of tea and take breaks when we can. It is not a glamorous job, but we take it seriously because people need their dal. We know the other business owners nearby, and we all sort of look out for each other in this part of town. Our family has been involved in this for a while, and the routine of the mill is just a part of who we are now.
