Singh Eye Care Hospital & Research Centre

Located right at Sambhai Chauraha on the Gauriganj Road in Jagdishpur, our hospital is easy to find. It’s a bit of a landmark for folks in the Amethi area. We’ve got a lot of space here because we do research alongside the regular eye checks. The building is a bit older, with long hallways and high ceilings. You’ll see people waiting in the lobby from early morning. They come from the nearby villages and from further out too. We spend a lot of time checking vision and looking at cataracts. The research side means we have more books and some different equipment than a tiny shop would have. It gets busy, especially on market days when everyone is out and about. The floors are made of that old grey stone that stays cool even when it’s hot outside. We don’t use any flashy signs or anything like that. People just know where we are. Sometimes the noise from the crossroads is a lot, but inside it’s usually quieter. Doctors and assistants walk around in white coats, talking to families about their eyes. It isn’t always perfect—sometimes the wait is long, and the paperwork piles up on the desks. We deal with whatever comes through the door. It’s a lot of responsibility, but it’s what we do here in Sambhai. We finish up late most nights, making sure the lights are off and the files are tucked away before we head home for some rest.
