Our site is located in the Tikaria Industrial Area, which is part of the Gauriganj tehsil. It’s a bit out of the way, but that’s where the space is for a place like this. Most of the people working here come from the nearby villages, and we’ve all become pretty familiar with each other over the years. The daily routine starts with checking the equipment and making sure the supplies are where they need to be. It’s a dusty place, as you’d expect from a cement works, and the wind usually blows it around the yard. We have a small post office nearby, but other than that, it’s mostly just other factories and empty plots of land. We don't have any fancy lunchroom, so we usually sit outside in the shade of the building when we get a chance. The work is mostly just watching the machines and moving materials around with the loaders. Sometimes the rain makes the ground soft and we have to be careful with the trucks so they don't get stuck in the mud. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, but we just get on with it. We don't spend time on fancy talk; we just make sure the production stays on track and the gates stay open every morning. It’s a quiet area most of the time, besides the sound of the plant.
