Top Leather Company

Top Leather Company is situated at 51/19 Vanakara Kollai First Street. If you walk down the street, you can usually tell which building is ours because of the smell of the leather. It’s a strong scent that stays with you all day. We spend most of our hours cutting skins and stitching them together into various products. It’s heavy work and can be quite tough on the hands. The workshop on First Street is where all the action happens. We have various tools and old machines that we use to get the leather just right. Sometimes the leather comes in with marks or scars, so we have to work around those bits to make sure the final piece is okay. It’s a very hands-on process, and we are usually covered in dust or scraps by the time we finish in the evening. The street is full of other small workshops, so there is a lot of noise from hammers and machinery throughout the day. We don't have a showroom or anything polished like that. You just see us at our benches working away. We’ve been at this for a long time and we know the material well. It’s just about doing the work properly and getting the items ready for the customers who expect them. We keep it simple and stay focused on the leather.
