Vmi Traders

Our place, Vmi Traders, is located on Mahari Aman Kovil Street in Manyakupam. We deal with various goods that people need for their daily business. It’s mostly wholesale stuff, so we have boxes stacked up everywhere in the shop. The street can be quite narrow, so getting the delivery trucks in and out is always a bit of a puzzle every morning. We start early, usually before the sun is fully up, to get the inventory sorted. There isn't much space for a fancy showroom, so we just show people the stock right out of the crates. My family has been doing this kind of thing for a while. We know most of the shopkeepers around Manyakupam because they come to us for their supplies. It’s a lot of counting, re-counting, and writing out receipts by hand. Sometimes we run out of something and have to wait for the next shipment, which is just how it goes. The fan in the corner makes a lot of noise but it helps with the heat. We don't have a lot of workers, just a couple of us who know where everything is kept. If you need something specific, you usually have to ask because you won't find it just by looking at the piles of boxes. It's a busy little place and we try to keep things moving as fast as we can. We’ve been on this street for more years than I can remember.
