Sonu Monu Screen Printers Studio

If you go down Navapara Road and look behind the Oriya Complex, you’ll find our studio. We are right opposite the Kedar Trading Company. It’s a busy little corner of the world. Sonu and Monu started this screen printing place because we liked the idea of making things by hand. The smell of ink is pretty much part of the furniture here. We have screens leaning against the walls and drying racks that take up most of the floor space. It’s not the biggest shop, but it works for what we do. You can hear the squeegees dragging across the mesh all day long. Sometimes the trucks going to the trading company across the street make so much noise we have to yell to hear each other. We do a lot of shirts and posters, mostly for local folks who just need something printed clearly. We don't use high-end machines; it's mostly manual work that leaves our hands a bit stained by the end of the shift. Navapara Road can get quite dusty, so we try to keep the front door closed, but the heat usually wins. We’ve been in this spot for a while now and most of the regulars know to just walk around the back of the complex to find us. It’s a simple life, just mixing colors and making sure the alignment is right before the ink dries.
