Akshar Bharati

We are out here in the industrial area at Plot No. B-110 in Udyog Bhavan No.-1. It is deep inside the Additional M.I.D.C in Anand Nagar. If you know Ambernath East, you know this part of town is mostly factories and large warehouses. It is quite a long walk from the train station, but we are near the Nakshatra Hotel, which is where we usually end up for tea or a quick lunch during the day. The building we are in is older and has that specific smell of grease and metal that you find in industrial zones. Akshar Bharati is not a large operation at all. We have our space on the ground floor and it is mostly filled with stacks of paper and finished jobs waiting for someone to come pick them up. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy with the work to worry about that. It gets very hot in the summer months because of all the machines running and the metal roof, but we just drink a lot of water and keep going. Most of our neighbors are other small workshops making various parts or doing repairs. It is not the kind of place people just wander into; you usually have to be coming here for a specific reason. We keep the machines running through most of the day and head home late.
