About Baranwal Mini Rice Mill – Food & Beverages in Ambedkarnagar
Baranwal Mini Rice Mill is a small place out in Mijwan, right near Galla Manadir. It is not one of those massive factories you see in the big cities. We just have a few machines that process the rice for the local farmers and neighbors. The building itself is pretty simple and we have to fix things ourselves most of the time when a belt slips or a motor acts up. When the harvest season starts, we are here until very late at night. The smell of raw grain is everywhere and it gets quite loud when everything is running at once. I usually have to shout to be heard over the hum of the mill. We keep a record of everything in a thick notebook that sits on a wooden desk near the entrance. Sometimes the power goes out and we just have to sit and wait for it to come back on, which gives us a chance to talk and have some chai. People from the village stop by even when they don't have anything to mill, just to see who else is around. It’s a dusty job and my hands are always a bit rough from handling the sacks. But it’s what we do here. The floor is concrete and has a few cracks in it from over the years. We don't worry too much about the looks of the place as long as the rice comes out clean.
