Radha Madhav Rice Mills

Out on Amapur Road, you’ll find us working at the rice mill. This area in Kashi Ram Nagar is known for this kind of work, and we’ve been part of it for a while. The air is always a bit dusty with the smell of grain, and the machines make a steady hum that you eventually stop hearing. We start early because the heat gets quite bad by midday. Most of our day is spent watching the hoppers or checking the quality of the husks. It’s physical work and your clothes are usually covered in fine white powder by the time you go home. We don't have a fancy office with air conditioning; we just have a small room with a fan and a few chairs for when people come to talk business. Dealing with rice means you are always at the mercy of the weather and the harvest cycles. Sometimes the crop is great, and other times we are just trying to make do with what comes in. We don't have any big speeches about our values or anything like that. We just mill the rice and load the sacks onto the trucks. Our workers are mostly local guys from the nearby villages who have been with us for years. We know their families and they know ours. It’s a loud, busy, and sometimes tiring place, but it’s what we know how to do here on Amapur Road.
