Shahi Tea

We are located in Ward No. 8, right in the middle of Narayangarh village. Our shop, Shahi Tea, sits near the Central Bank of India at Subash Chowk in the Sadar Bazar area. It is a very busy spot. Most of the time, the air smells like boiled milk and tea leaves. We have a few benches for people to sit on while they talk. My family has been doing this for a while now. The Sadar Bazar gets very crowded on market days, and we stay on our feet almost all day. We do not have fancy signs or anything like that. People just know where we are because of the landmark near the bank. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon, so we have to use the old stoves more. We get all kinds of people coming in, from farmers to people working in the offices nearby. Everyone has a story to tell over their cup. The morning starts with getting the water hot and cleaning the counters. We do not use any complicated machines. It is just us and the tea pots. Sometimes we run out of sugar and have to send someone running to the next shop. It feels good to see the same faces every day. It is hard work, but it keeps us busy and connected to the village. We just try to keep things simple and honest here without making a big fuss about it.
