Punjab Embroided Footwear

Our workshop is over at 107-a Gobind Nagar. If you walk by, you can usually hear the sound of people working or talking. We specialize in those traditional shoes with all the embroidery on them. It’s a lot of handwork, so it takes time. We have stacks of leather and different colored threads all over the place. It’s not a factory with big machines; it’s more about people sitting down and doing the stitching. The floor is usually covered in little bits of thread and scraps. We’ve been in Gobind Nagar for a long time, and everyone around here knows what we do. It gets a bit hot in the summer, but we keep the doors open to get a breeze. We don’t have a fancy marketing plan. Most people find out about us because they saw someone else wearing our shoes. We just focus on getting the patterns right and making sure the shoes don't fall apart. Sometimes a shipment gets delayed because the leather didn't arrive on time, and we just have to deal with it. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way. We aren't trying to sell to the whole world, just to people who appreciate the work that goes into a pair of hand-stitched shoes. Every pair is a little different because they aren't made by a machine.
