Quality Leather Craft

Anandi Bhawan is an old building and being here in Kaccha Bazar means there is always something going on. Our spot is at 2094/95, right where the market gets the most crowded. The building has a lot of character, which is a polite way of saying the walls are a bit cracked and the floors are uneven. But it works for us. We do all our leather crafting here, mostly spread out over a couple of large tables that have seen better days. The bazaar outside is loud with vendors shouting and bikes honking, but once you get inside and start working, you kind of tune it all out. We use a lot of hand tools and some heavy-duty machines that make a lot of racket. Every morning we have to move things around just to make enough space to start the day's work. It’s a lot of manual labor, reaching for heavy pieces of hide and making sure the cuts are clean. We don't have any fancy displays. If you come in, you'll see us in our work clothes, probably with some glue or dye on our hands. We drink a lot of chai from the stall across the way to keep us going. It is a busy, dusty environment but we have been in Kaccha Bazar for so long it feels like home. We just keep our heads down and finish the crafts we have on the list before we close up for the night.
