Gupta Shoe Co.

We’ve been running Gupta Shoe Co. right here at Vijay Rattan Chowk for a good long time. If you know the chowk, you’ve probably walked past us a dozen times. It’s a busy intersection, and there’s always something going on outside our front door. We sell all kinds of shoes, from basic sandals to more formal stuff for weddings or work. The shop is filled with boxes stacked up to the ceiling. It can be a bit of a squeeze when we have more than a few people inside, but that’s just how it is. We spend our days helping people try on different sizes and finding the right fit. The floors are a bit worn from all the foot traffic over the years. We don’t have a big fancy display, just the shoes out where you can see them. Often, we’re just chatting with the neighbors or the regulars who stop by to see what’s new. It gets dusty because of the road, so we’re always wiping down the shelves. There isn't a website or a big ad campaign, just the sign over the door and the shoes in the window. It’s a simple business. We open up the shutters in the morning, sweep the front, and get to work. People come to us because they know we’ve been here forever. It’s a noisy, lively spot to work, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
