About Jain Mechanical Works – Engineering in Ambala
Our workshop is at unit number 49 in the Industrial Estate over in Ambala Cantt. It’s a loud place, full of the sounds of lathes running and metal being cut. We’ve been working out of this same spot for a long time. The floor is stained with oil and there’s iron filings in the corners, which is how a machine shop should be. We handle mechanical repairs and custom parts for local factories. It’s heavy work, and our hands are usually greasy by ten in the morning. We don't have a front office or a receptionist. If someone needs us, they just walk into the shop and find one of us near the machines. We’ve got some old equipment that still works better than the new stuff, and we take care of it. We have a big sliding metal door that stays open all day to let the smoke and heat out. It gets pretty cold in the winter, so we wear heavy jackets and keep moving to stay warm. We don't have any polished showrooms or fancy brochures to show people. Usually, someone just brings in a broken shaft or a gear and asks if we can make a new one. The Industrial Estate is a busy place with a lot of grit, and we fit right in. We don't do any fancy marketing. Our work is our reputation. We close up when the last motor stops spinning for the day.
