If you travel out to Taluka Danta in Banaskantha, you will find Shriram Cement Ltd in the Hadad area. It is a rugged landscape and the cement business fits right in with the surroundings. We deal with large quantities of cement and the site is always covered in a fine grey dust that seems to get on everything. The sun is very strong out here and the workers have to take regular breaks in the shade. We have big trucks coming in and out all day long to load up the bags for different construction sites across the district. It is a heavy job and everyone here is used to the physical nature of the work. The office is just a small building on the side where we keep track of the loads and the inventory. There isn't much in the way of shops or restaurants nearby so we usually bring our own food from home. We have been operating in Hadad for a long time and we know the local terrain well. It is a noisy place with the sound of engines and the clatter of loading but that is the sound of work being done. We don't spend much time on fancy talk or marketing. We just focus on making sure the cement is ready and the trucks are moving. It is a simple, tough business in a tough part of the country.
