Gitanjali Marbles

We set up Gitanjali Marbles right along the Jalna-Beed Road because it is easy for the big trucks to pull over. Being near the highway means we get a lot of dust from the road, but it is a good spot for business. We have rows and rows of marble slabs sitting out. Some have been there for a bit, while others just arrived yesterday. We don't really do much advertising; mostly people see us while they are driving past or hear about us from their neighbors. The sun hits the white stones in the afternoon and it can be quite bright out there in the yard. I usually have a tea with the drivers while they wait for the loading crane. Marble is a heavy thing to move, and you have to be careful not to chip the edges. We’ve had a few accidents over the years, but that’s how you learn. My brother helps me with the accounts, though he’s better at talking to the customers than I am. We keep things simple. If a piece of stone has a crack, we tell you. No point in hiding it. People around here are building new shops and homes, so there is always something going on. It is a lot of standing around in the heat and then suddenly being very busy when a customer shows up. We like the pace of it. It feels real and steady.
