Ambika Cements

Our place is located at 67-32/14 on Agraharam Road in Kuchiminchi. It’s a dusty kind of job, working with cement all day, but someone has to do it. The road out front is always busy with carts and trucks, so there’s never really a quiet moment until late at night. We’ve got stacks of bags piled up high, and my shirt is usually grey by the time I head home for lunch. My uncle used to run a shop similar to this one, and he taught me how to keep the inventory straight so we don't run out when a big build is happening nearby. It’s not a fancy office with air conditioning; we just have a couple of stools and a heavy desk where the ledger stays. Sometimes the heat in Kuchiminchi gets to be a lot, especially in the middle of summer when the sun hits the road directly. We keep a water pot in the corner for anyone who stops by. People around here know us by name, and we know most of them too. It’s about being reliable more than anything else. If we say we have the bags ready, they’re ready. We don’t spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty. It’s a warehouse and a shop, plain and simple. We just focus on the work at hand and hope the weather stays clear for the deliveries. It's a long day usually, but we are used to it by now. It works for us.
