Vasordhara Hospital

Vasordhara Hospital is situated in Almora, up here where the air is a bit thinner and the roads are quite curvy. Working in the hills means things move at a different pace than down in the plains. We get a lot of local folks coming in from the surrounding villages. Sometimes they’ve had to travel a fair distance on the bus or even walk a long way to get here. The building itself has been around for a while and you can tell by the way the walls look. We have a view of the mountains from some of the windows, which is nice when you get a second to look out. It’s cold in the mornings, so we usually have jackets on until the sun gets higher in the sky. The hallway can be a bit dark, but we keep the rooms as bright as we can. It’s not a massive place with hundreds of doctors, but we manage the daily flow of patients well enough. There’s always someone sitting on the stone steps outside waiting for their turn to be seen. We spend our days checking temperatures, filling out charts, and talking to families about their health. It’s a steady job that keeps us on our feet. The sound of the wind is usually more noticeable than the sound of cars. We just focus on the people who show up and try to make sure they feel looked after before they head back home.
