Living out here in Mararikulam North, things move at a different pace than the big cities. The Marari Beach is surrounded by a lot of green, and you can usually smell the salt from the water when the wind blows the right way. We spend a lot of our time sweeping up sand that people track in on their shoes. It’s just part of being near the coast. The post office is nearby, and the locals walk past on their way to work or the market. It’s quiet most of the time, except for when the rain hits the roof hard during the monsoon season. We don't have those tall buildings you see in Kochi, just a lot of space and the sound of the birds in the morning. The guys working here are mostly from the village and have been with us since they were young. They know every tree on the property. We don't try to make things look too perfect because nature usually has other plans anyway. The humidity can be a bit much in the summer, but that’s Kerala for you. People come here when they want to get away from the noise, and we just give them a place to sit. It’s a simple setup, really. We just keep things running and watch the seasons change over the palms and the sand throughout the year.
