Our place is out on Mirzapur Road in Naini. It is a big site because structural work takes up a lot of room. You can't really miss it if you are driving by. We have been here for a good while, working with heavy steel and big components. The sun gets really hot out here in Naini, and inside the sheds, it feels even hotter when the welding torches are going. There is always the sound of cranes moving overhead or someone grinding down a rough edge. It is heavy work. You have to be careful where you step. We handle a lot of the big stuff that goes into buildings or bridges. It is not like making small parts; here, everything is oversized. Sometimes the steel arrives late or the drawings are confusing, so we spend time scratching our heads and figuring it out. We have a lot of older guys who have been doing this since they were young. They have a way of looking at a piece of metal and knowing exactly how it will behave. We eat our tiffin together in the break area and talk about the news or family stuff. It is a steady rhythm. The work is hard on the hands and the back, but there is something good about seeing a giant structure finished and loaded onto a trailer for a long trip to some construction site.
