Started out at L.D.31 in Awantika Naini. We have been doing this for years now in Allahabad. It's a family thing, started with S.N. Mishra. Dealing with granite is hard on the hands. We spend our days surrounded by big stone slabs and a lot of dust. It isn't a glamorous job, but we like the finished look of the stone. The yard gets pretty crowded when a new shipment comes in. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy lobby. If you come by, you'll probably find us near the cutting machines or checking the inventory. The heat in Naini can be really tough during the summer, but we just keep the water bottles full and keep working. Sometimes the power goes out, and everything stops, which is frustrating. We mostly serve people right here in the local area who are building homes. It’s a simple business. We don't have a big marketing plan. We just sell stone and try to be fair about it. The address is easy to find if you know the landmark. We’re just regular people making a living. My kids sometimes help out on the weekends when they aren't in school. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and measuring twice. We use old trucks that have seen better days. But they still run, and so do we. It’s just how things are around here.
