Ankit Variety Store

We are located at 69/C in Sohabatiya Bag, right here in the Allahpur area of Allahabad. It is a variety store, so we carry a bit of everything. You might find notebooks and pens for the students one day, and the next day someone is asking for plastic buckets or mugs. I started Ankit Variety Store because there was not a place nearby that kept all these random bits and pieces in one spot. The shop is a bit of a maze with boxes stacked up in the corners. It is not always perfectly organized, but I usually know where everything is if you ask me. Allahabad gets really cold in the winter and very humid in the rains, so the stock needs to be checked often to make sure nothing gets ruined by the weather. I spend a lot of time talking to the suppliers and trying to get things that the local people keep asking for. It is a lot of work, especially when the delivery rickshaws block the narrow street outside. I do not use any big words to describe what we do, we just sell things people use in their daily lives. The regulars know me by name, and we often talk about the weather or the local news while I am weighing out their items. It is a simple business, nothing more and nothing less. I like the bustle of Sohabatiya Bag and being right in the thick of it. We keep the doors open late most nights.
