Our business, Tanisi Steel (P) Ltd., is based out in Oodlabari Bazaar. It is a lively place to be, especially on market days when everyone from the surrounding areas comes in. We are close to the Post Office-Nanadari in the Jalpaiguri district. Being in a bazaar means there is always noise and people moving around outside our door. We deal with steel, which is heavy and requires a lot of space, so our warehouse is usually pretty full. The weather in Jalpaiguri can be a bit unpredictable, with heavy rains that sometimes make things difficult, but we just deal with it. We have a small team here and most of us have been working together for years. We don't really have a big corporate office; it is more of a practical space where we can track orders and talk to customers. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait it out, which is just how things go here. We aren't looking to impress anyone with fancy brochures or anything. We just provide steel to whoever needs it and try to keep our accounts straight. It is a steady life in the bazaar. We know the neighbors and they know us. We just keep the gates open and get to work every morning. There is a small tea shop just down the street that we visit way too often when we need a quick break.
