Adisamagra Foundation

Adisamagra Foundation is based in a village called Lachmandabri. We are at Biswanath Tudu’s house, which is in the Mairadanga post office area of Falakata. It’s deep in the Alipurduar region of Jalpaiguri. Life out here is very different from the city. Our foundation is small and mostly works with the people in the village and the surrounding forest areas. We focus on basic needs and helping the community here stay together. Biswanath is a local guy, so everyone knows him. The office is just a simple room with a couple of benches. We don't have internet most of the time, so everything is done on paper or just by talking. It’s quiet out here, except for the sounds of the village. We help with whatever comes up, whether it's local issues or helping someone get their paperwork sorted. Most of the people we see are farmers or workers from the nearby tea gardens. We don’t have a big budget or fancy things. It’s just us trying to help our own people. Sometimes the meetings happen outside under a tree if it’s too hot inside. It’s a very humble way of doing things, but it’s what works for Lachmandabri. We are just part of the local life here in Falakata. We often sit late into the evening talking about how to manage things better for everyone in the village. It’s a slow process but we don't mind.
