Shailja International

Being right across from Gandhi Park on G.T. Road makes it pretty easy to find Shailja International. Ahata Kalai is a busy little pocket of the city. We have been working from here for a while now. The traffic on G.T. Road is always something else, constant horns and people moving about at all hours. Our space is tucked in there among the other shops. We do international trade work, which involves a lot of logistics. It's mostly about paperwork and talking to people on the phone for hours. The office isn't very big, and we have folders piled up on most of the surfaces. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes but we know exactly where everything is. We take our breaks near the park when it’s not too crowded or hot. It’s nice to see some green in the middle of all the gray concrete. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to keep the lights on and do right by the people we deal with. Sometimes we close up a bit early if the heat is too much to handle. It’s just us here, a small group. We’ve seen the road change a lot over the years. New shops come and go but we stay put in this spot. It’s a bit dusty because of the main road being so close, but you get used to it eventually. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
