Papu General Store

Papu General Store is located at 325/1 in Jawahar Colony. It is a small place, nothing like those big supermarkets you see in the cities now. We have been here for quite some time, and the neighborhood knows us well. We sell things like matches, tea powder, sugar, and the kind of snacks kids like. The shop is basically one room with shelves lining every wall. There is a small wooden bench outside where sometimes the older men sit and talk for a bit. It’s a quiet life here in the colony compared to the main city roads. We know most of the customers by their first names because they have been buying from us for years. If a kid is short a rupee or two, we usually let it slide and they pay us back next time. The paint on the walls is peeling a little, and the door squeaks when you open it. We don't have any fancy displays, just the items stacked where there is space. We open up early to catch the people heading to work who need a quick pack of cigarettes or some gum. It is just a local store run by local people. We don't have any big plans to expand or change things. We are happy just being the corner shop where you can get your daily needs without any fuss. It’s just how we do things in Jawahar Colony. We stay open till about nine every night and then go home to have dinner with our families.
