National Glass Art

You can find us tucked away in Nai Basti, right behind where Jaishri Talkies used to be. National Glass Art is a place where we handle a lot of fragile stuff every single day. The shop is filled with glass of all sizes and it’s always a bit of a worry that something might break if you move too fast. We’ve been in this neighborhood for a long time, and everyone knows the landmark of the old cinema nearby. The street is narrow, so when we get deliveries, it’s always a bit of a struggle to get the truck positioned right. Inside, it’s usually quiet except for the sound of glass being cut or moved. We don’t have a lot of fancy displays or a big reception area. It’s just a workspace with some samples leaning against the walls. We spend our hours measuring and cutting, trying to make sure everything is just the right size. Sometimes we get a bit of glass dust on our clothes, but that’s just how it is. We aren't big on marketing or trying to sound important. We’re just local people who have learned a specific trade over many years. It’s a simple life in an old part of the city. We like the rhythm of the work and the people who stop by just to see what we’re making. It takes patience to handle glass without any accidents happening.
