Shri Biharilal Sons

If you walk down Agra Road towards the Lock Market, you’ll find us. We are Shri Biharilal Sons. It’s an old part of town and our shop reflects that. We’ve got shelves stacked high with all sorts of things, mostly hardware and the kinds of stuff you’d expect in a lock market. It’s a bit dark inside because the buildings are close together, but we know where everything is kept. My father and his father before him were doing this same thing. We don’t have a website or anything like that, just the physical shop. People come in and describe what they need, and we go find it in the back. The street outside is always noisy with rickshaws and people shouting, but inside it smells like metal and old wood. We sit on the little stools and wait for customers. Sometimes it’s slow and we just drink tea and talk to the neighbors. Other days, we don’t have a second to breathe. We don’t use any computer systems; it’s all in the ledgers or in our heads. It’s a simple way to run a business. We aren't trying to be the biggest, just staying open and doing what we know. It’s a dusty place, and the fan makes a clicking noise all summer, but it’s home to us. You get used to the rhythm of the market after a few years. It’s just how things are on Agra Road, and we wouldn't change it much.
