Kunwar & Co. is our small company based in Sarai Kazi in the Atrauli area of Aligarh. We have stayed in this same spot for a long time now. Atrauli is a traditional place and we fit right in with the local way of doing things. We handle various trading activities and sometimes it gets quite busy with people coming in from the nearby villages. Our office is simple and functional. We do not see the point in spending money on expensive furniture when the work can be done on a plain desk. We spend a lot of time on the phone and checking our ledgers. It is a very hands-on type of business. The lanes in Sarai Kazi are narrow and full of life. You can always hear the sounds of the market outside our doors. We know most of the people who walk past and we usually stop for a quick chat. It is more than just business; it is about being part of the town. We do not use any complicated technology unless we really have to. Most things are still done with a pen and paper because it feels more reliable to us. Sometimes we have long days during the peak seasons but we do not mind. It is how we have always operated and it seems to work for everyone involved. We just keep things moving and try to stay honest with everyone we meet. We're here for the long haul.
