If you’ve ever been stuck in traffic at Delhi Gate Choraha, you probably saw Ujjawal Hardware. We’re right there near the Masjid. It’s a busy spot, always people shouting and horns honking. I spend most of my day behind the counter looking for specific nuts or bolts that someone needs. Hardware is one of those things where you have thousands of tiny items and you have to remember where every single one is. My shelves are pretty packed. It’s not the most organized looking place, but I usually know where I put stuff. The dust from the road gets inside no matter how much we sweep. Being near the Masjid means it gets really crowded during prayer times, which I don't mind. It gives me a chance to step outside for a bit and see what's happening. We sell everything from hammers to plumbing pipes. People come in asking for advice on how to fix a leak or what paint to use. I tell them what I know, but I’m no expert. I just sell the stuff. My father started this, and I just took over after he couldn't do the heavy lifting anymore. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just walk in when they need something for their house. It’s a simple life. We open early and close when the sun goes down. Some days are long, but that’s just how business is around here. It is just a normal shop.
