Blue Chairs Gallery is run by Mr. Sulaiman Farooqui at House No. 5, Street No. 4. We are in the Loco New Colony in Aligarh, U.P. (India) 202002. Being in a residential colony means the gallery has a very homey atmosphere. We don't have a big glass front or a receptionist in a suit. It’s just a house where we have dedicated some rooms to the gallery. You can hear the neighborhood sounds, like kids playing or the occasional train from the nearby tracks. Mr. Farooqui is usually around to show people the collection himself. We have a variety of things on display, and yes, there are some blue chairs around where you can sit and talk. We don't go in for big advertisements or promotional events. Most people hear about us through friends or neighbors. The street is a bit narrow, so visitors usually park a little way off and walk to the house. We spend our days cataloging items and making sure everything is in good condition. It's a simple, local business that doesn't try to be anything it isn't. We drink a lot of tea and handle the paperwork on a wooden table in the corner. Aligarh is a city with its own pace, and we fit right into that. Blue Chairs Gallery is just Sulaiman’s house and his passion for collecting and showing interesting things. It’s a straightforward way to run a gallery in the Loco New Colony.
