Yubi Organic Farm

You can find us at number 7 in Bharanickavu, over in Alappuzha. It’s not a corporate office, it’s just a farm. Most days we are out in the dirt, so our clothes are rarely clean. Alappuzha is famous for being green, and we’re right in the middle of it. We grow things the old-fashioned way without all the chemical stuff. It’s a lot of manual labor, pulling weeds by hand and making sure the water is reaching the right spots. The humidity can be pretty intense, so we drink a lot of water and try to work in the early morning. We don’t have a big team or a fancy marketing plan. We just have the land and the plants. Sometimes the bugs get to the crops before we do, and that’s just part of the deal. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s how we like to do things. People from the village sometimes stop by to see what’s growing. We don’t have a store with glass cases; you just get what’s fresh from the ground. The shed where we keep the tools is a bit disorganized, but we know where everything is. It’s quiet out here, except for the birds and the occasional tractor in the distance. We like the pace of it. It’s hard work, but it’s real.
