The Chocolate Fondue

The Chocolate Fondue is located in the Devi Tyres Building over in Haripad. It might seem like a strange place for a chocolate shop, being near a tyre place, but it works for us. We are in Alappuzha District, so things move a bit slower than in the big cities. We spend our time melting chocolate and making small batches of treats. The smell in the kitchen is the best part of the job. Sometimes we make a mess with the cocoa powder and it gets all over our aprons. We aren't a massive factory. It’s just a few of us at South Nadanh 47, Haripad P.O. We use local ingredients when we can find them. Our counters are usually covered in moulds and cooling trays. We don't have a fancy website or a huge storefront. Most of our customers are locals who just happen to walk by or heard about us from a neighbor. We try to keep things simple. If a batch doesn't taste right, we don't sell it. It’s as easy as that. We enjoy the quiet of the afternoon when we can sit down for a minute before the next round of melting starts. It’s a small life, but we like it. We don't need to be the biggest shop in Kerala. We just like making something that people enjoy eating on a hot afternoon. Our door is always open even if the building looks a bit plain from the outside.
