Margin Free Super Market

You can find us on Kotapuram Road in Cherthala, right near the Aroor Church. This is a busy part of the Alappuzha district. The church is a big landmark so people usually use it to find their way to us. We call ourselves a margin free supermarket because we try to keep the prices as low as we can. It’s a lot of work to keep things cheap though. We have to haggle with the suppliers and make sure we aren't wasting anything. The shop floor is quite large compared to some of the others on this road. We have rows of shelves filled with pretty much everything a house needs. The lighting isn't the best in the back half of the store but we are working on that when we have some spare cash. Dealing with the crowds on a Saturday is always a challenge. Everyone seems to want to shop at the exact same time. We have to stay on our toes to keep the queues moving. Outside, the traffic on Kotapuram Road can be a nightmare with all the scooters and cars honking. We just stay inside and keep stacking the shelves. It is a busy life but it feels good to be right in the middle of Cherthala. We see a lot of the same faces every week and that makes the job a bit more interesting.
