The factory is situated at 48/827B, right across from the District Court and very close to the SDV Central School in Sanathanam. It’s a well-known corner of the neighborhood, and you can usually hear the sound of the metalwork from a block away. Being the Kerala State Coir Machinery Manufacturing Company Ltd., we have a lot of history tied to the local area and the coir industry. The building itself is older, with high ceilings and thick walls that help a bit with the humidity. Inside, it’s a maze of heavy lathes and welding stations. There’s always a fine layer of dust on things, which is just part of making machinery. The workers here have been around for years, and they know the machines inside out. We don’t go for anything fancy in terms of the interior; it’s all about the function of the tools and the heavy iron parts we move around. During the school rush, the street outside gets packed with kids and parents, which adds a bit of life to the day. We take our breaks when the heat gets too much, usually leaning against the cool walls or standing by the gate to catch a bit of fresh air. It’s a solid, old-school workplace where we focus on building things that last, without worrying about how the office looks. We just keep the gears turning and the metal moving for the machines.
