Aroor Coir Mats Mattings

You can find us on Keltron Road, right near the Aroor P.O. This area has a long history with coir, and we are just another part of that tradition here at Aroor Coir Mats Mattings. Our workshop is filled with the smell of coconut husks and the sound of looms. It’s a bit dusty, and the floors are always covered in stray fibers, but that’s just how it goes when you’re making mats. We spend our days weaving and checking the quality of the matting. It’s a slow process sometimes, and it takes a bit of muscle to get it right. We aren't using high-tech robots here; it’s mostly hands-on work by people who have lived in Aroor their whole lives. The sun gets pretty hot on Keltron Road, so we try to get the heavy work done early in the morning when it's cooler. We make mats that are meant to last, the kind you can actually use without worrying about them falling apart in a week or two. We don't do much in the way of fancy marketing. Most of our orders come from people who know us or have seen our work before. If you walk by, you’ll see the stacks of finished mats waiting to be shipped out. We’re just a local business trying to keep the craft going and make a decent living while we’re at it.
