Kanti Floor Furnishers

We are based in Alleppey, which is a place known for its water and its quiet pace of life. Being Kanti Floor Furnishers, we spend most of our time dealing with mats and flooring materials that come from the local area. Our workspace is a large shed with a corrugated roof, so you can really hear the rain when the monsoon hits. It’s a very simple way of working. We don't have fancy computers or a big office with air conditioning. Most of the time, the doors are wide open to let the breeze in from the trees outside. We have a few long tables where we inspect the goods and a small desk for the accounts. The people who work here are all from the nearby villages, and we’ve known their families for a long time. It feels more like a community project than a big company sometimes. We don’t have a big marketing budget or anyone to tell us how to sound professional. We just make sure the floors are covered and the customers are happy with what they get. Some days are slow and we sit and talk for a while, and other days we are busy from morning until night. It’s a good way to live, being close to the materials and the people who make them. We usually wrap up our work before the sun goes down so everyone can get back to their homes.
