About International Carpet Consortium – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Alappuzha
Our place is located out in S. L. Puram. It’s a bit quieter than being in the middle of a huge city, which is nice for the kind of work we do. We deal with carpets of all sorts. When you walk in, you’ll usually smell the wool and the different fibers we have stored here. It’s a heavy business. Moving carpets around takes some muscle, so we’re all used to the physical side of the job. We aren't a big corporate entity with layers of management. It’s more of a hands-on type of operation. We spend our days looking at weaves and patterns. Some of them are pretty traditional and others are a bit more modern. We check for loose threads or any mistakes in the dye. It takes a good eye to spot the small stuff. Sometimes the dust from the textiles gets to you, so we keep the fans going. We have a small crew and everyone knows their role. We don’t really bother with fancy titles. If a truck needs unloading, we all help out. The weather around here can be humid, so we have to be careful with how we store the stock. We’ve had to learn the hard way about moisture control over the years. It’s just us doing the work, day in and day out. We like the quiet rhythm of the place. It's honest work and it keeps us busy.
