Our shop is tucked into the N.S.S Union Shopping Complex over in Palace Ward. It’s not a huge space, but we make it work with what we have. Fair Trade India is mostly about the people we work with, though most days it just feels like we are moving boxes from one side of the room to the other. Being in a complex means there’s always people walking past the window, and you hear the noise from the other shops all day. We have a small table in the back where we have our tea and talk about the weekend. The lighting isn't the best, so we keep the door open to get some sunlight in. We don't do much advertising; people usually just find us by word of mouth or if they happen to be in Palace Ward for something else. It gets a bit dusty because we are near the main road, so we are always wiping down the shelves. Sometimes we have a lot of stock and it feels like the walls are closing in, but then a big order goes out and we have room to breathe again. We just try to be fair with everyone and keep things simple. It’s a decent place to work, and the neighbors in the other units are friendly enough.
