About Jayakrishna Coirs – Agriculture & Farming in Alappuzha
Our place is located right near the Cherthala railway station, over by Kalavamkodam Post. Jayakrishna Coirs has been part of this area for a good bit of time. We work with coir fibers and products made from coconut husks, which is pretty common around here. You can hear the trains passing by while we work, and honestly, we've stopped even noticing the noise. The warehouse is usually filled with the smell of dried fiber and rolls of matting waiting to go out. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It's mostly just us handling the daily stuff, moving bundles around and making sure things are stored properly so they don't get damp. The location near the station makes it easy for people to find us, though the traffic gets a bit much during peak hours. We started small and stayed that way, focusing on what we know. Most of our days are spent checking the quality of the coir we get and talking to the regular customers who come by. It’s dusty work, and your clothes end up covered in little brown bits by lunchtime, but we don’t mind it. We just keep the doors open and get through the list of things to do each day. It’s a straightforward life here at the yard near the tracks. We have a few old machines that make a lot of noise, but they still do the job after all these years.
