Aswathy Spun Pipes

Our place, Aswathy Spun Pipes, is located in the Development Area of Aroor. We are quite easy to find because we’re right near the Aroor Police Station. Having the police station nearby makes the area feel pretty quiet and safe, though the development area itself is always moving. We spend our days working with concrete and the spinning molds to create the pipes. It’s a physical job and your clothes usually end up with a bit of cement on them by noon. We start the day by checking the machines and making sure we have enough raw materials like sand and stone. The work is repetitive, but you have to stay focused so the pipes come out even. We have a small shed where we take our breaks and have some tea. It’s not a corporate environment at all. We just talk about our families or what’s happening in the village while we wait for the concrete to set. The trucks come in through the main gate to pick up the finished pipes, and that’s usually the busiest part of the day. We have to be careful with the cranes when loading them because those pipes are really heavy. It’s a humble setup, but it works for us. We’ve been here in Aroor for a long time, and we know the local rhythms of the place quite well.
